Capri: Hey. Things have been hectic. I’ll be back in town in a few days. Can we meet up and talk?

Me: Of course. Just hit me up when you back.

Capri: K.

I stared at my last message exchange between me and Capri. She had sent it a few days ago, and I was waiting patiently to hear from her when she was back. Finding some shit out like I had told her was a lot, so I was giving her space to sort out how she felt.

“I don’t give a fuck if that bitch gave you head, took her head off, spun around on yo’ dick, and then landed my jet. Don’t fucking charter my fucking jet without my permission, bozo!” Menace, my best friend, barked into the phone and slammed his phone on the kitchen counter.

I leaned up and looked in the kitchen because of the crazy shit he had said. He continued to stab his fork into his eggs that the chef had finished preparing like he didn’t just bark on his brother.

“Landon?”

“His ass about to find out why the fuck they call me Menace. Let his ass touch my jet once more, and I’m gonna show his ass… matter fact, Jeffie!” he hollered, pushing the eggs away.

Jeffie was Menace’s right hand, assistant, and I liked to call her his handler. She came running into the kitchen with her iPad in her hand. I don’t think I ever saw her without her damn iPad in her hand.

“Why are you screaming?”

He took a sip of some red ass smoothie he always had every morning. “Add into my schedule an ass whooping for those niggas at the private airport. Why the fuck they allowing Landon to charter any fucking thing.”

Jeffie heaved a sigh, used to the bullshit that her boss pulled on a daily basis. She was used to his shenanigans, and knew he was serious about scheduling some time to whip ass. Menace liked to fight for fun.

The nigga had two hours out of every day where he did some UFC type fighting that looked painful as shit.

“The request came from my computer, so I’m gonna assume your brother hacked into it again.”

“Told you about keeping it unlocked around him… he’s literally in school for the shit,” I remarked, and she rolled her eyes.

“Don’t forget to mention yourself, too.”

Menace looked from me and then back to Jeffie. “Fuck already and get the shit over with… ‘cause when you done, we need to go wring Landon’s neck for fucking with my shit. Ain’t he supposed to be in school, not fucking Miami turning up.”

“Menace, school is out for the summer. It explains why he came over here the other day. I thought he genuinely wanted to intern under me.”

“For what? I don’t want that sneaky muthafucka working under me. He has his role, and he need to start playing that shit when it comes to me. How the fuck is he hacking my shit… I’m the one paying for his education… I’m splitting his shit when I see him.
